SRIB works with several organizations to promote a sustainable community, and to provide environmental education opportunities to the Slippery Rock Community.
In 2013, SRU Students through the Sustainable Enterprise Accelerator (SEA) working with Slippery Rock in Bloom created a voluntary survey to determine if businesses in the Slippery Rock area are acting in a manner that is simultaneously good for their bottom line, the environment, and the social fabric of our community. The SEA contacted all members of the Slippery Rock Business Association through email, phone, or visiting during business hours to ask for their participation in the survey. Of those businesses, 33 participated in the survey. From this analysis, SEA will distribute a flyer to local businesses covering the results. It includes the findings as well as the recommendations in the report on how local businesses could become more sustainable. Check out the results:
